Shortly before arriving in New Plymouth, I stopped over to have a look at Dawson Falls. These waterfalls are located on the slopes of Mt Taranaki.
The waterfall itself is not particularly spectecular it's more the incredibly green and wet rain forest nearby that is fascinating.
Later that day I found out that parts of the area around Mt Taranaki get up to 8000mm of down fall per year. So now I know where the juicy green colour is coming from.
